The tennis competitions of the Xth Pan American Games 1987 were held from August 13 to 23, with a rest day on August 16, at the Indianapolis Sports Center in Indianapolis . Medals were awarded to women and men in singles and doubles as well as in mixed competitions. The games for 3rd place were no longer played and bronze was awarded twice.
Brazilian Nelson Aerts was disqualified from the tournament for violating amateur rules. For the same reason, his compatriot Patricia Medrado was not admitted to the tournament. Nevertheless, Brazil won both individual titles through Fernando Roese and Gisele Miró .
