Panic Button is a British horror - thriller from 2011, of the dangers of modern social networks treated.

action

Jo, Max, Gwen and Dave, all users of the social network All2gethr.com, won a trip to New York in a competition. After boarding the private jet allegedly provided by All2gethr.com, they will be offered the opportunity to play a game during the upcoming six-hour flight where prizes such as precious diamonds can be won. After all four have given their consent, each of them is asked three intimate questions, some of which expose those affected. The questioner appears only as a computer animation in the form of a lizard; the pilot is also not visible to Jo, Max, Gwen and Dave. If the participants feel uneasy about answering the questions, the questioner reacts by mentioning the valuable prizes again, which leads to all participants continuing the game and not abandoning it. When Dave finally loses his temper after exposing his sexual preferences and tries to get into the cockpit to the alleged questioner, he pronounces a "punishment". Apparently, one of Dave's friends is randomly selected from his friends list at All2gethr.com and shot. The deed is shown live to the four participants on the computer screens. In the further course of the game, Jo, Max, Gwen and Dave are each given a task separately from each other, about the content of which they must keep silent. Family members, who the questioner threatens to kill if the task is not performed, serve as leverage. They also learn that the plane is not going to New York, but to Oslo . There the aircraft is to be steered to the headquarters of All2gethr.com. The four cannot save their own lives in this way, but that of their relatives. Dave's job is to kill Max, which he tries after some hesitation. However, he fails and can be overpowered by Max, with Dave himself finding death. The questioner then sees Dave's task as not completed and kills the victim who is in his power, which is again apparently shown live to those present on the plane. Next, Gwen loses her nerve, who also attacks Max to save her sister's life. Gwen can throw the battered Max down, but can in turn be overpowered and killed by Jo. The injured Max then tries to hack into the on-board computer and looks for his laptop in the hold. There Jo finds the bodies of those killed, whose deaths were allegedly shown live on the plane's computer screens. It turns out that those present have only seen records and they have no way of saving their loved ones. While Max tries to hack into the on-board computer, the pilot suddenly appears from the cockpit. His family is also in the power of the questioner, which is why he is determined to steer the plane into the company headquarters of All2gethr.com in order to save their lives. Jo tries to convince him that his family is already dead and that he should land the plane. But the pilot cannot be changed, destroys the laptop and uses his taser to incapacitate Jo. Then he goes back to the cockpit. Max has also died at this point, as he was poisoned by Jo minutes ago, when she was still hoping to save her daughter Sophie, who was kidnapped by the questioner, from threatened death.

After Jo wakes up, the questioner reveals that she, Max, Gwen and Dave were not chosen randomly. Each of them had watched his daughter Lucy's suicide on a webcam on the Internet and, instead of helping, shared the video with friends, made fun of it, or simply failed to intervene. The questioner therefore denies all those involved any right to live. Thereupon Jo grabs the emergency ax on board and smashes the exit door of the jet with it. As it is sucked out, the damage quickly loses height and falls into the water off the Norwegian coast. The news reported about the accident without survivors. The questioner, who is now being shown for the first time, sits in front of several computer screens from which he has observed and checked everything. Then he goes to Sophie, the daughter of Jo who he kidnapped. He now sees her as a substitute daughter and henceforth names her after his deceased daughter Lucy. In the final scene you can see the questioner, whose name he gives as Rupert Turner, going for a walk with his wife, son and Sophie.
