The area is bounded in the east by the Prenzlauer Promenade, which is the Bundesstraße 109 here . In the south, Wisbyer Strasse, a section of Berlin's inner city ring, and Esplanade street form the border. In the northwest, the Dolomite Road, which runs parallel to the tracks, is the end.

history

Located between the city of Berlin and the villages of Pankow and Heinersdorf , the area formed a field mark with important connecting roads until the end of the 19th century . In addition to a few bourgeois houses, large excursion restaurants were built that were set up for visiting Berlin guests. One of the most famous was the “Feldschlößchen”, in which the first film screening in Germany by the Skladanowsky brothers took place in 1895 . The structural expansion of the then imperial capital ended on the southern outskirts with the beginning of the First World War . After Pankow became part of Berlin through the Greater Berlin Act in 1920, the areas previously on the edge were now centrally located and therefore interesting for investors . Several residential areas emerged such as the Tyrolean Quarter , the Kissingen Quarter and the residential area around Elsa-Brändström-Strasse . In addition, allotment gardens for the residents of Prenzlauer Berg were created on many areas . These were demolished in the course of construction work from the late 1970s and developed modern multi-storey building in bricks .
