Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt ( Jap. パンティ&ストッキングwithガーターベルト , Panti ando Sutokkingu Wizu Gātāberuto ) is an anime television series, which in 2010 by animation studio Gainax and directed by Hiroyuki Imaishi was produced.
action
At the center of the series are the two young angels Panty and Stocking, who were banished from heaven because of their bad behavior. Since then, as God's messengers, they have been supposed to hunt down and eliminate evil spirits in Daten City ( city corresponds to the Japanese shi → datenshi denotes fallen angels ), a place in an intermediate world between heaven and hell. If they have done enough good deeds and have collected enough Heaven Coins accordingly , they should be able to go back to heaven. Your contact is the black priest Garterbelt, who gives them the orders from heaven and provides them with accommodation. As a black priest, he always only prepares black-looking dishes.
However, the two fallen angels have very different things in mind than to pursue this activity. Instead, Panty nibbles one lover after the other and is not picky about it as long as she gets her orgasm. Stocking, on the other hand, has little interest in men, prefers to eat all kinds of desserts and dresses like a Gothic Lolita . So both actually only go about their tasks when they can no longer stand it in the accommodation. Anarchy Panty ( パ ン テ ィ , Panti , "ladies panties") is a blond angel, Stocking's older sister and her character is rather uncontrolled and insulting. In keeping with her name, her weapon is a large, blue pistol with a pink bow, called the backlace, which she receives when necessary by transforming her panties. If necessary, Panty can turn other underwear into weapons or use Stocking's knickers to create a more powerful weapon. On earth, Panty's pastime is eating as many men as possible (their goal is to have sex with a thousand different men) and an otherwise carefree lifestyle.
Stocking
Anarchy Stocking ( ス ト ッ キ ン グ , Sutokkingu , "ladies stocking") is like panty an angel. In contrast to her sister, she prefers order and finds her pleasure in eating a wide variety of sweets and caring for her Gothic-Lolita look. She wears long purple and pink hair and a short, black dress in Victorian style and a plush cat called Honekoneko (ホ ネ コ ネ コ, "bone kitten") that seems to be alive. Stocking's weapon in the fight against ghosts and demons is one of her stockings, which she can transform into a blue sword called Stripe. Like panty, stocking can turn more stockings into additional weapons, as seen in the first fight against Scanty and Kneesocks.
Garterbelt
Garterbelt ( ガ ー タ ー ベ ル ト , Gātāberuto , " suspenders ") is a black priest with a huge afro and entrusted with panty and stocking to fulfill their duties, which is not always easy. Garterbelt was once a criminal (presumably in New York) who, after his violent death and refusal to pursue a divine mission, was condemned to search for the key to hell, to earthly immortality, and who was transported millions of years back in time and all human history has witnessed. Garterbelt is homosexual, practices BDSM and leads a double life as a masked Master-G when he indulges in anarchist intentions.
Chuck
Chuck ( チ ャ ッ ク , Chakku , "zipper") is a small, green, dog-like, zippered creature that houses the spirit of a bull and whose head resides a male demon who uses Chuk's brain as a sofa. Chuck is repeatedly the victim of violence on the part of the two angels and Garterbelts. In doing so, he is able to withstand the worst attacks on his life and recover quickly. Chuck's main task is to act as a kind of mailbox in which the divine orders end up after he is struck by lightning. He also works as a driver of the pink jeep See-Through ( シ ー ス ル ー , Shī Surū ), which the two sisters use as a means of transport.

Brief ( ブ リ ー フ , Burīfu , “underpants”) is a red-haired boy who is interested in ghosts and the paranormal in general. His clothes are similar to the “uniforms” of the Ghost Busters and his backpack is similar to the proton beam. He tries to help panty and stocking with the ghost hunt, where he is often harmed. Brief is in love with Panty, which she doesn't really notice. Panty and stocking usually only refer to him as “geekboy”. The letter is actually called Briefers Rock and is the heir to a billion-dollar fortune, and his penis is the key to hell that both Garterbelt and Corset are looking for.
Scanty
Scanty ( ス キ ャ ン テ ィ , Sukyanti , "scanty" (in this case for scantily clad)) is a red-skinned, female demon with green hair and two horns. Like her younger sister, Kneesocks, she is obsessed with rules and can be seen almost constantly in her light brown uniform, but unlike panty and stocking, she acts in a controlled and less abusive manner. Like her opponents, Scanty can transform her underwear, in this case two panties that she wears at the same time, into two black and gold revolvers, the Double Gold Lacytanga ( ダ ブ ル ・ ゴ ー ル ド ・ レ ー シ ー タ ン ガ , Daburu Gōrudo Rēshītanga ).
Kneesocks
Kneesocks ( ニ ー ソ ッ ク ス , Nīsokkusu , "knee socks") is the younger of the two demon sisters, she has blue hair, only one horn, but also red skin, and she also wears glasses. Should Kneesocks “turn red”, her face turns a lighter red, which is a kind of running gag within the series. Kneesock's armament consists of two black and gold scythes with the name Double Gold Spandex ( ダ ブ ル ・ ゴ ー ル ド ・ ス パ ン デ ッ ク ス , Daburu Gōrudo Supandekkusu ).
Corset
Corset ( コ ル セ ッ ト , Korusetto) is the mayor of Daten City, the boss of Scanty and Kneesocks and a blue-skinned demon in BDSM equipment. He knows Garterbelt from earlier and shares with him a similar yellow scar on his chest as well as the search for the key to hell. The town hall, from which he operates, resembles the lower half of the body of a man with an erection, which protrudes from the ground, the building is also the portal to hell, for which the key must be found.
Fasters
Fastener ( フ ァ ス ナ ー , Fasunā) is a tiny pink creature that, like Chuck, is zipped over, but doesn't really resemble any familiar animal; a little female demon lives in his head. Fastener is Chuck's rival and they both know each other from school. He takes on tasks similar to Chuck's for the demons, e.g. For example, he drives the two's means of transportation, a stretch SUV sedan named G-String ( ジ ー ス ト リ ン グ Jī Sutoringu).

Origin and publications
The anime was produced by the animation studio Gainax and directed by Hiroyuki Imaishi . The characters were designed by Atsushi Nishigori and the artistic direction was taken by Masanobu Nomura . The music in the series was composed by Taku Takahashi . The series was first broadcast from October 2 to December 25, 2010 after midnight (and thus on the previous television day ) on BS NTV . It was also followed by transmissions on the channels AT-X , Chiba TV , Gifu Broadcasting , Mie TV , Sun TV , Tokyo MX , TV Kanagawa , TV Saitama and TVQ Kyushu Broadcasting . Outside of Japan, the series was licensed by Crunchyroll and made available as a streaming service with English subtitles.
The original concept for the series comes from Hiromi Wakabayashi, who was inspired by American pop culture, especially cartoons like Drawn Together and Powerpuff Girls , which is reflected both thematically and visually in Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt .

The opening credits of the series were titled Theme for Panty & Stocking , which was texted, composed and interpreted by Hoshina Anniversary. A short version of Aimee B's Fallen Angel was used in the credits . Both were produced by hip-hop producer Taku Takahashi.
Manga
Parallel to the anime series, a manga series was published in Kadokawa Shoten's magazine Young Ace from issue 9/2010 (August 4, 2010) to 7/2011 (June 4, 2011) . This is drawn by Tagro based on the Gainax template.
The chapters were summarized in an anthology ( Tankōbon ), which appeared on June 4, 2011 ( ISBN 978-4-04-715713-2 ).
