Paolo Massimo Antici

Paolo Massimo Antici (born February 10, 1924 in Montegiorgio , † August 17, 2003 ) was an Italian diplomat .

Life

Antici studied law at La Sapienza University . After graduating summa cum laude in February 1948, he passed the recruitment test for the judicial service and began working as a judge in Milan in February 1950 . Subsequently, Antici also passed the test for the diplomatic service and entered the foreign service in March 1951.

His international posts included Budapest (1954–57); Tripoli (1957-61); Luxembourg (1961-63) and The Hague (1966-67).

From 1964 to 1966 he served in the economic department of the Italian Foreign Ministry, where he was responsible for the European Economic Community .

From 1967 to 1970 he was assistant to the EEC commissioner Edoardo Martino in Brussels. Subsequently, Antici worked for the Permanent Representation of Italy to the EEC, most recently as its envoy . During this time, he organized the Antici group named after him when Italy held the Council Presidency .

From 1978 to 1983 Antici was deputy in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Head of International Cultural Relations. In 1983 he was appointed Ambassador to serve as Permanent Representative of Italy to the Council of Europe in Strasbourg until 1989 .
