Paolo Pace

Paolo Pace (born January 25, 1909 ; † unknown) was a Maltese politician of the Nationalist Party and was speaker of the House of Representatives (Speaker of the House) .

biography

Paolo Pace came from an old Maltese family, from whose ranks among others the two Archbishops of Malta Gaetano Pace Forno and Pietro (Petrus) Pace, who like Giuseppe Pace was also Bishop of Gozo , came. In 1939 he married Carmen Xerri from Gozo .

Pace began his political career in 1950 when he succeeded the late former Prime Minister Enrico Mizzi as a member of the Legislative Assembly. In 1953 he was elected a member of the House of Representatives, where he represented the interests of constituency 1 as a member of the Nationalist Party . In 1955 he was re-elected as a member of parliament .

In February 1962 he was elected Speaker of the House and held this office until the end of the first legislative term in February 1966. Alfred Bonnici became his successor as speaker . In 1966 he was re-elected as a member of parliament, so that he was a member of parliament until June 1971.

Between May 2, 1966 and May 1, 1971 he was also the representative of Malta in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe .
