Paride taban

Paride Taban (* 1936 in Opari ) is former bishop of Torit .

Life

Paride Taban was ordained a priest on May 24, 1964 . Pope John Paul II appointed him auxiliary bishop in Juba and titular bishop of Tadamata on January 28, 1980 .

The Pope personally donated him episcopal ordination on May 4th of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Cardinal Agnelo Rossi , Cardinal Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples , and Cardinal Joseph-Albert Malula , Archbishop of Kinshasa .

On July 2, 1983, he was appointed Bishop of Torit . He resigned from his office on February 7, 2004.

In 2013 he was awarded the UN Peace Prize. After the end of the civil war in Sudan, which was still undivided at the time, he campaigned for reconciliation among those who had hitherto been enemies.
