Park Seo-joon (real name: Park Yong-gyu; born December 16, 1988 in Seoul ) is a South Korean actor .

Life

Park is the eldest of three sons. He attended Annam High School and then the Seoul Institute of Arts. From 2008 to 2010 he did his military service . In 2011 he made his debut in the entertainment industry in the music video for Bang Yong-guks I Remember . He also made a small appearance in the baseball film Perfect Game . His supporting role in Dream High 2 is considered to be his actual acting debut . For his performance in Geum Nawara, Ttukttak ( 금 나와라, 뚝딱 ), he received several nominations and awards for best new actor .

The breakthrough year is 2015. He landed leading roles in the dramas Kill Me, Heal Me and She Was Pretty as well as the thriller The Chronicles of Evil . A year later he starred in the period drama Hwarang alongside Go A-ra . In 2017 he played the lead role in the successful youth romance Fight for My Way and the action film Midnight Runners . The latter reached over 5.6 million moviegoers in South Korea. Park received for his performance & a. the prestigious Daejong Film Award for Best New Actor . 2018 he celebrated another great success with the drama What's Wrong with Secretary Kim on the side of Park Min-young . The press then called him the king of romantic comedy .

In 2019 he played the lead role in the occult thriller The Divine Fury . He also made a cameo in the Oscar-winning film Parasite by Bong Joon-ho . He plays a childhood friend of Ki-woo ( Choi Woo-shik ), who is studying abroad and who first gives the Kim family a stone that is supposed to bring good luck. In return, Choi Woo-shik has a cameo in The Divine Fury . In 2020, Park played the lead role in the Webtoon adaptation Itaewon Class with Kim Da-mi and Kwon Na-ra. It is the first television series from the film production studio Showbox .
