The President's Triangle (also known as the Federal President's Triangle) is a park in the Berlin district of Moabit . Her full name is Park on the Federal President's Triangle .

The name of the park is derived from its location, the previous use of the area and its shape. It is located on the eastern bank of the Spree - across from the park of Bellevue Palace (which is the official seat of the Federal President ) - between Paulstrasse, the Spree and the Stadtbahn and is triangular . The approximately two- hectare property with the address Paulstraße 20a served as a parking lot for the Federal President's Office until 1997 .

As around 80 trees and green spaces had to give way next to Bellevue Palace when the new Federal President's Office was built, the parking lot that was no longer needed was converted into a public green area in 2000/2001. The design followed the drafts drawn up by landscape architect Dieter Kienast in 1998 and, in addition to maintaining parts of the existing old trees, included the planting of a total of 251 trees of various kinds, 1.5 hectares of lawn and 470 meters of different hedges . The total costs amounted to 1.9 million marks .

The park opened on May 23, 2001.

The park continues east of the Luther Bridge in the Moabiter Werder green corridor , which extends to the government district and the promenades at the main train station . The completion of the waterfront promenades went hand in hand with the opening of the main station in 2006 and closed the last gap in a continuous promenade along the Spree, which leads from the tram route at the Presidential Triangle to Schiffbauerdamm . East of the Humboldthafen , the entire train was connected to the already completed promenade along the Berlin-Spandau shipping canal , which leads over the Invalidenfriedhof and currently ends at the northern harbor . The Gustav Heinemann Bridge on Washingtonplatz in front of the train station in turn connects the facilities with the Spreebogenpark on the southern bank of the river.
