Parker Fennelly
Parker W. Fennelly (born October 22, 1891 in Northeast Harbor , Maine , † January 22, 1988 in Peekskill , New York ) was an American actor.
Life
Parker Fennelly worked in the theater before starting his film and radio career and appeared in a total of 13 productions on Broadway from 1924 on. He also wrote two plays that were performed on Broadway. With its strong Englanders -Akzent he spoke in hundreds of radio plays, among other things, he worked for seven years as a regular member of Fred Allen's popular radio show Allen's Alley in the role of Titus Moody with. To this day, Titus Moody is the advertising face of the Pepperidge Farm group and Fennelly embodied Moody in the commercials for Pepperidge between 1957 and 1978, before successors took on this role.
After Allen's Abbey closed in 1949, he made his first film and television appearances. Most of the time, Parker Fennelly played mostly the older, somewhat grumpy or weird New Englander. He has appeared in over two dozen television series and made ten films, including a minor supporting role as the millionaire in Alfred Hitchcock's black comedy Always Trouble with Harry (1955) and a leading role as Pa Kettle in the comedy The Kettles on Old McDonalds Farm (1957) , the final installment in the Kettle family film series, in which he replaced regular Father Kettle actor Percy Kilbride .
Fennelly made his last film in 1971. Parker Fennelly died at the age of 96. Only a few months after him, his wife Catherine Fennelly (1892–1988) died, with whom he had two children. They were buried in Sleepy Hollow Cemetery .
