Parkett is an art magazine that has been published in Zurich and New York in German and English since 1984 .

history

Parkett was published in 1984 by Bice Curiger ( editor-in-chief ), Jacqueline Burckhardt and Dieter von Graffenried . Each band is the result of a direct collaboration with one or more contemporary artists . The magazine not only publishes several articles about their work, but also enables their readers to purchase a limited edition work of art. Although the parquet editions can also be found in museums these days , they are basically designed for private ownership in city apartments. The series of parquet works of art includes a wide variety of formats, from pictures to sculptures to photographs and prints .

In 1987 the works of art in the Parquet series were exhibited at the Center Georges Pompidou in Paris . The magazine thus gained international recognition. Further exhibitions took place at the MAK Center for Art and Architecture in Los Angeles (1995), at the Museum Ludwig in Cologne (1999) and at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York (2001). To mark the 20th anniversary of the magazine, all 150 works in the series were exhibited at the Kunsthaus Zürich in 2004 .

In 2009 the Kanazawa Museum in Japan showed a parquet retrospective entitled "200 Artworks - 25 Years" .

In 2017 Curiger announced the discontinuation of the culture magazine for the summer with the double volume 100/101.
