The parliamentary elections in Australia in 1990 took place on March 24, 1990. It was the election to the 36th Australian Parliament . From the two chambers of parliament , the House of Representatives (lower house) was fully elected and the Senate (upper house) partially re-elected.

Although the ruling Labor Party lost most of the votes, it was still able to continue to govern with an absolute majority. The loser in the election was the opposition Liberal Party .
