A total of 76 seats

The 2001 general election in Australia took place on November 10, 2001. It was the election for the 40th Australian Parliament . From the two chambers of parliament , the House of Representatives (lower house) was fully elected and the Senate (upper house) partially re-elected.

The ruling coalition of the Liberal Party and the National Party clearly won the election and was thus confirmed in office. The Labor Party and One Nation were the losers in the elections, with a significant drop in votes .
