The 2004 general election in Australia took place on October 9, 2004. It was the election for the 41st Australian Parliament . From the two chambers of parliament , the House of Representatives (lower house) was fully elected and the Senate (upper house) partially re-elected.

The coalition of the Liberal Party and National Party , which had ruled since the 1996 election, had clearly won the election and was thus confirmed in office. It was even able to expand its absolute majority of the seats. The loser in the election was the opposition Labor Party .
