The Church of the Assumption of Mary is a neo-Gothic style Catholic parish church in the Saarland community of Qui Various , Saarbrücken regional association . She bears the patronage of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary . In the list of monuments of the Saarland, the church is a single monument listed.
history
The parish church of the Assumption of Mary was built between 1863 and 1866 as a single-nave church building according to plans by the architect Carl Friedrich Müller ( Saarlouis ) . In 1867 Qui Various was raised to an independent parish. Due to the strong population growth in Quiigart towards the end of the 19th century, the church had become too small. That is why the church was extended by two aisles from 1897 to 1898 according to plans by the architect Lambert von Fisenne . In 1965 the church was subjected to a restoration , which resulted in a color change of the painting, which resulted in the destruction of the painting from 1907. In 1972, through renewed restoration and reconstruction measures, today's altar island was created. In 1994 there was another restoration, which was followed by the reconstruction and restoration of the chancel and the two side chapels from 2005 to 2007 .
On October 23, 2005, a new altar was consecrated by the then Bishop of Trier, Reinhard Marx .
Furnishing
The high altar and side altars were designed by the architect Lambert von Fisenne (Gelsenkirchen) and executed by Carl Frank from the workshop for church art (Trier) between 1897 and 1898. The altarpiece was created by the Port Brothers ( Münstermaifeld ) during the same period . In 1936, sculptor Ernst Hoffmann ( Sulzbach ) created the 3 m high atonement cross with a life-size carved wood body that stood behind the church until the end of the 1990s.
Further items of equipment are the new altar from 2005, the 14 Stations of the Cross from 1898, which were rediscovered in 2006 and restored by Manfred and Eric Schöndorf ( Ottweiler ), a Pietà restored in 2006 , and a figure of St. Elisabeth, also restored in 2006 . The windows of the church show motifs from the Holy Scriptures .
