Parliamentary elections in Mozambique 2004
The 2004 parliamentary elections in Mozambique took place on December 1 and 2, 2004 at the same time as the 2004 presidential election in Mozambique . Both elections ended with a major victory for the ruling party Frente da Libertação de Moçambique (FRELIMO). The country's largest opposition party since independence, the Resistência Nacional Moçambicana , or Renamo for short, questioned the result. Independent observers also pointed out a number of serious irregularities.
RENAMO was in this election as a decisive factor of an electoral alliance of several small parties under the name of Renamo-UE begun
Democratic standards of the elections
The European observer mission criticized a number of inaccuracies and, above all, a lack of transparency in the implementation of the election, each in favor of the ruling party FRELIMO. Overall, however, these inaccuracies were not rated as so serious that the result was clearly falsified.
