Provinces of Mozambique
Mozambique is divided into ten provinces ( províncias ) and the capital Maputo with provincial status:

The provinces are now divided into a total of 141 districts. See also the list of districts of Mozambique .
Since 2009, the provincial governments have been elected in general elections. However, the provincial elections in Mozambique in 2009 showed clear deficits in terms of democratic standards.
