Restinga de Jurubatiba National Park
The National Park Restinga de Jurubatiba ( Portuguese Parque Nacional da Restinga de Jurubatiba ) is located in the northern region of the state of Rio de Janeiro in Brazil and comprises a coastal landscape ( Restinga ) of 44 km² in the municipalities of Quissamã (60%), Carapebus (30 %) and macaé (10%).
The national park was established by law in 1998 and encompasses 14,860 hectares of coastal, beach, saline and mudflat areas. The national park includes 18 lakes and natural formations on the coast.
The park is monitored by the government organization IBAMA and visits are generally only permitted in the company of suitable guides.
