Parviz Jalayer (born October 6, 1939 in Tehran ; Persian پرویز جلاير; † July 6, 2019 ) was an Iranian weightlifter and participant in the 1964 Summer Olympics in Tokyo and 1968 in Mexico City .
Career
Jalayer was in the squad of the Iranian national weightlifting team at the 1964 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, where he was Olympic seventh.
After winning the middleweight gold medal (75 kg) at the Asian Games in Bangkok in 1966 , he took part in the 1966 World Championships , which took place in Berlin , and won the bronze medal in the "lightweight (67.5 kg)" weight class.
At the Olympic Games in Mexico City in 1968 he again competed in the lightweight and finished second behind Waldemar Baszanowski from Poland with a total of 422.5 kg and thus won the silver medal.
In 1967 Parviz Jalayer set a new world record in Tehran: 169 kg in pushing (lightweight).
