from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Pascal Pessiot (born November 14, 1952 ) is a former French racing driver and entrepreneur.

Career in motorsport

Pascal Pessiot competed in monoposto and sports car races in the 1980s . The wealthy Frenchman financed most of his races himself and in this way he did a few races in the French and European Formula 3 championships . Pessiot did not drive to earn a living and was at the start seven times in his career in the 24 Hours of Le Mans . Apart from this race, he only contested one other long-distance race . At 1000 km race at Brands Hatch in 1986 he reached with the Sauber SHS C6 of Roland Bassaler 17th overall.

At Le Mans he was closely associated with Welter Racing for many years and always drove for this team until 1990 . In 1989 , Pessiot was particularly brave. Four hours before the end of the race, the WM P489 caught fire just after the Mulsanne because leaking oil ignited on the hot engine. Pessiot drove the car, from which more and more fire broke out, four kilometers to the Indianapolis curve, because there he could park the car behind the guardrails, where the fire was also immediately put out. His best placement at Le Mans was 12th overall in 1986 .

Entrepreneur

Pessiot was a real estate investor for many years and held a leading position in French gaming. Until May 2011 he was chairman of Societe Francaise de Casinos SA .
