Passion Play Engerazhofen 2010

The Passion Play in Engerazhofen , a suburb of the Gebrazhofen community belonging to the city of Leutkirch in the Allgäu , was a Christian passion play that was performed in 2000, 2001, 2005, 2010 and 2015. The content of the performance were stories from the life of Jesus Christ . More than 250 amateur actors from the parish of St. Johann Baptist came under the direction of Alfred Sipple and the spiritual accompaniment and direction of Pastor Waldemar Wrobel. The open-air stage was on a meadow immediately south of the La Salette pilgrimage chapel in the Allgäu . The performance lasted two hours.

History of the game

The idea of ​​performing a Passion Play in Engerazhofen came to the then pastor Waldemar Wrobel in 2000. He not only wanted to read the Passion of Jesus in the church on Good Friday, but also act out the story as a play together with his believers. In response to his idea put forward in the community, one hundred people spontaneously volunteered to take part in the game. Pastor Wrobel has meanwhile been transferred within the diocese to Bopfingen 150 km away on the Härtsfeld .

The municipality of Engerazhofen has 440 inhabitants. At the fourth performance of the game in 2010, 320 residents of the town took part in the event. 250 were employed as amateur actors and 70 residents took part as helpers, costume seamstresses and technicians. The 250 amateur actors were divided as follows: 220 people played the people, of which 70 actors are children. Another thirty people formed the disciples of Jesus, the twelve apostles, the garrison of the Roman headquarters of Jerusalem, two donkeys, Roman soldiers as torchbearers and a chariot of Pilate with four horses and handlebars.

In the first year of 2000, three thousand people attended the four performances. In 2001 real costumes were sewn and invested in props , stage technology and music equipment, so that five thousand spectators came. The props consisted of a stage set that was supposed to represent the city gate of Jerusalem, the Praetorium of Pontius Pilate , a small stage with a table and chairs. The painted set is thirty meters long. The clothing store of the Passion Play is located in the Haus der Mitte in Engerazhofen and is managed by the Quartet clothing store team . In 2005 a total of almost eight thousand spectators came to the performances, which did not cost admission.

The biblical passages were taken from the Luther Bible. Pastors Waldemar Wrobel and Alfred Sipple from Wolferazhofen directed and directed. A large part of the game was accompanied by the music from Richard Wagner's Tannhäuser and the singer's war at Wartburg . During the games and at the end, at the request of the game management, there was no applause.
