Patrick "Pat" Thompson (born January 16, 1972 in Fall River , Nova Scotia ) is a retired Canadian ice hockey player .

Career

Pat Thompson began his career as a hockey player at Brown University , for whose team he was active from 1991 to 1995. In 107 games for Brown University, Thompson scored 20 points. During the NHL Supplemental Draft in 1993 , he was selected in the first round in fifth position by the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim , where he never played and did not make the jump into the NHL. In 1996 the defender moved to Kärpät Oulu in the Finnish second division. After 18 games and two points, the club gave him to Lukko Rauma . There he played 26 games in the SM-liiga . After his contract with the Finns expired and was not renewed, he returned to the United States.

Thompson joined the Columbus Chill , a club from the East Coast Hockey League . The defender ran in 31 games for the Columbus Chill on the ice, in which he scored five points. Then he took the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim under contract. Pat Thompson was handed over directly to the farm team at the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks . In the American Hockey League he completed 21 games and collected three scorer points.

The Ducks were then not interested in a further cooperation and the Canadian then moved to Germany to SC Riessersee in the 2nd ice hockey Bundesliga . He managed the best season of his career. He ran on the ice in 57 games, scored six goals and collected a total of 14 points scorer for SC Riessersee. In the 1999/2000 season he changed clubs again at the end of his career and played a total of 40 games for the Vienna EV . At the age of 28, Pat Thompson ended his active career.
