Patricia Horoho
Patricia D. Horoho (* 1960 in Fort Bragg , North Carolina ) is an American officer with the rank of lieutenant general . She was Surgeon General of the United States Army from December 5, 2011 to December 11, 2015 .
Live and act
Horoho attended school in Fayetteville , where she attended St. Ann Catholic School and then St. Patrick Catholic School before graduating from EE Smith High School in 1978. She studied at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill , where they a 1982 Bachelor of Science as a nurse earned and at the University of Pittsburgh , where they have a 1992 Master of Science as a Clinical Nurse Specialist trauma received.
In 1994 Horoho became a senior nurse in the emergency room at Womack Army Medical Center , where under her care the injured as a result of the Green Ramp disaster .
Among other things, Horoho directed:
- the DeWitt Health Care Network in Fort Belvoir , Virginia (2004-2006),
- the Walter Reed Health Care System in Washington, DC (2007-2008),
- the Madigan Army Medical Center in Tacoma , Washington (2008–2009)
- the Western Regional Medical Command in Fort Lewis , Washington (2008-2010)
She then held the post of Deputy Surgeon General and the Chief of the US Army Nurse Corps . On May 5, 2011, President Barack Obama nominated Horoho for the office of 43rd Surgeon General of the United States Army (TSG) and Commanding General in the United States Army Medical Command (CG, USAMEDCOM), which she succeeded in December 2011 Eric Schoomaker took over after the nomination was confirmed by the United States Senate . She is the first woman and first officer in the Nurse Corps to be nominated by the President of the United States for these two positions in the history of the United States Army .
Awards
Horoho was named Nurse Hero on September 14, 2002 by the American Red Cross for providing first aid to 75 injured in the September 11, 2001 attacks . Among her military awards are the Army Distinguished Service Medal , the Medal of the Order of Military Medical Merit , the Order of the Legion of Merit (2 OLC ), the Meritorious Service Medal (6 OLC), the Army Commendation Medal (3 OLC), and the Army Achievement Medal (1 OLC). The University of Pittsburgh named Horoho a Legacy Laureate in 2007 .
