Patrick Aufiero (born July 1, 1980 in Winchester , Massachusetts ) is a former American ice hockey player who was active in the 2005/06 season for the Augsburg Panthers in the German Ice Hockey League .

Career

Aufiero began his career in 1998 at Boston University , where he played for the local ice hockey team in the College League Hockey East . During the 1999 NHL Entry Draft , those in charge of the New York Rangers secured the transfer rights to the defender when they selected him in the third round in a total of 90th position. The right-shooter finished his studies in 2002 and then moved to the American Hockey League for the Hartford Wolf Pack , the Rangers' farm team . There he received a two-year contract.

By 2004 he had completed 37 AHL games and scored seven points scorer . He was also used 20 times in the ECHL with the Charlotte Checkers . For the 2004/05 season he joined the Providence Bruins , where he was active until 2005. He was then signed by the Augsburg Panthers from the German Ice Hockey League in the summer of 2005. In his first season with the Panthers, he suffered a serious knee injury during a league game against the Frankfurt Lions , which forced him to end his career in 2006. Aufiero only wore the Augsburg Panther jersey 23 times.
