Patrick Ebosele Ekpu

Patrick Ebosele Ekpu (born October 26, 1931 in Uromi ) is Old Archbishop of Benin City .

Life

Patrick Ebosele Ekpu was ordained a priest for the diocese of Benin City on July 7, 1963 . Pope Paul VI appointed him on June 5, 1971 Coadjutor Bishop of Benin City and Titular Bishop of Castabala .

The Apostolic Delegate in Nigeria , Amelio Poggi , consecrated him bishop on November 21 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Alexius Obabu Makozi , Auxiliary Bishop in Lokoja , and Patrick Joseph Kelly SMA , Bishop of Benin City.

After Patrick Joseph Kelly's SMA retired , he succeeded him on July 5, 1973 as Bishop of Benin City. With the elevation to the archbishopric on March 26, 1994 he was appointed Archbishop of Benin City. On November 21, 2006, Pope Benedict XVI. his age-related retirement.
