Alexius Obabu Makozi

Alexius Obabu Makozi (born February 15, 1931 in Okene ; † January 16, 2016 ) was Bishop of Port Harcourt .

Life

Alexius Obabu Makozi was ordained a priest on January 6, 1968 and was incardinated in the clergy of the Apostolic Prefecture of Lokoja . Paul VI appointed him on February 20, 1971 auxiliary bishop in Lokoja and titular bishop of Fallaba .

The Archbishop of Lagos , John Kwao Amuzu Aggey , gave him episcopal ordination on May 30th of the same year; Co- consecrators were Auguste Delisle CSSp , Bishop of Lokoja, and Dominic Ignatius Ekandem , Bishop of Ikot Ekpene .

On July 30, 1972, he was appointed Bishop of Lokoja. John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Port Harcourt on August 31, 1991 . On May 4, 2009, Pope Benedict XVI. his age-related retirement.
