Patrick Fölser (born November 16, 1976 in Linz ) is a former Austrian handball player . It was mostly used as a circulator . Fölser is currently the sports director of the ÖHB .

Career

The trained chef made his debut in 1996 for HC Kärnten in the Handball League Austria ; after two years he moved to HC Linz AG in his hometown . There, too, he was rather unsuccessful, but recommended himself for a commitment abroad due to good performance.

In 2000 Fölser was signed by the German second division club VfL Pfullingen , with whom he was promoted to the 1st German handball league in 2002. Then Fölser went to the new league competitor TuS N-Lübbecke . With the Ostwestfalen he rose again in 2003 to the 2nd handball league , in 2004 - with a record result of 68: 0 points - but also straight up again. In the following years too, Nettelstedt only just managed to stay in the league, and in 2007 they even had to relegate to TSV Bayer Dormagen . Then Fölser moved to HSG Düsseldorf, which had just been relegated to the second division . With his new club, Fölser promptly made it to the handball Bundesliga, but was relegated again with Düsseldorf in the following season. From 2011 to 2014 Fölser played again in the Handball League Austria for SG Handball West Vienna , after which the runner ended his active career.

Patrick Fölser was also a long-time player in the Austrian national handball team . There he ended his active team career in October 2012 - 16 years after his 1996 debut against Italy - after 213 international matches. His career highlights in the national team included u. a. promotion to the main round at the 2010 European Handball Championship in his own country. For the 2014 European Championship he was reactivated and played five more international matches.

Fölser took over the office of sports director at the ÖHB in August 2018 .
