Patrick James Skinner

Patrick James Skinner CIM (born March 9, 1904 in St. John's (Newfoundland) , † September 20, 1988 ) was a Canadian Roman Catholic clergyman and Archbishop of Saint John's, Newfoundland .

Life

He was ordained a priest on May 30, 1929. The Pope appointed him Titular Bishop of Zenobias and Auxiliary Bishop in Saint John's, Newfoundland, on January 24, 1950 . The Apostolic Delegate in Canada , Ildebrando Antoniutti , donated him episcopal ordination on March 17 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were John Michael O'Neill , Bishop of Grand Falls , and Patrick Albert Bray CIM, Bishop of Saint John, New Brunswick .

Pius XII. appointed him Archbishop of Saint John’s on January 23, 1951, and he was inducted into office on March 23, 1951. He attended all the sessions of the Second Vatican Council . On March 28, 1979, John Paul II accepted his age-related resignation.
