The Diocese of Grand Falls ( Latin Dioecesis Grandicataractensis , English Diocese of Grand Falls ) is one in Canada situated Roman Catholic diocese , based in Grand Falls-Windsor .

history

The diocese Grand Falls was on February 29, 1856 by Pope Pius IX. from cessions of territory of the Diocese of Newfoundland as the Diocese of Harbor Grace . It was subordinated to the Archdiocese of Saint John's, Newfoundland as a suffragan . The Diocese of Harbor Grace gave up on July 13, 1945 parts of its territory to establish the Vicariate Apostolic Labrador . On February 22, 1958, the Diocese of Harbor Grace was renamed the Diocese of Harbor Grace-Grand Falls . The Diocese of Harbor Grace-Grand Falls was renamed on October 30, 1964 in the Diocese of Grand Falls .
