Patrick Wackström

Patrick Wackström (born September 6, 1958 in Porvoo ) is a former Finnish cyclist and national champion in cycling .

Athletic career

Wackström achieved his first sporting successes on an international level at the competitions of the Nordic Junior Championships in 1975 and 1976, where he was able to win medals. In 1976 he won his first national title in the men's class when he won the Finnish championship in the team pursuit with his club team (together with Sixten Wackström and Harry Hannus ). He also won this title in 1978, 1980, 1981, 1982 and 1983. In 1983 he won together with his brothers Sixten and Stefan Wackström .

In 1977, 1978, 1979, 1981 and 1982 he became the Finnish champion in the 1000-meter time trial . In 1982 he became the Finnish champion in the single pursuit .

He was also successful as a road driver . 1980 and 1981 he was able to win the national championship in road racing . At the Championships of the Nordic countries he won the team time trial with Finland in 1982 (with Harry Hannus, Kari Myyryläinen and Harri Juhani Hedgren ).

Wackström was a participant in the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow (7th place in the team time trial ) and 1984 in Los Angeles (38th place in the road race and 13th place in the team time trial ).

He competed in the International Peace Tour in 1983 and finished the tour in 47th place in the overall ranking.

Familiar

He is the son of Ole Wackström , who was one of the most successful Finnish cyclists. His brothers Sixten and Stefan were also racing cyclists.
