Ole Wackström

Ole Rafael Wackström (born September 20, 1932 in Porvoo , † April 8, 2015 ) was a Finnish cyclist .

Athletic career

Ole Wackström was one of the most successful cyclists in Finland from the late 1950s to the 1970s. In these years he won a total of 14 championship titles, once in the road race , eight times in the individual time trial, four times in the single and once in the team pursuit . He competed four times at the UCI Road World Championships . In 1968 and 1972 he started at the Olympic Games, but without occupying front places.

Familiar

Wackström comes from a family of cyclists. His two brothers Erik and Bror were also active as well as his three sons Patrick , Sixten and Stefan . Like many successful Finnish cyclists, he started for the Porvoon Akilles club .

Professional

Wackström completed his training as an electrician.
