Paul Nyman

Paul Mauritz Nyman (born November 3, 1929 in Vyborg ) is a former Finnish cyclist .

Paul Nyman was one of Finland's top cyclists in the 1950s. In total, he won (at least) 25 Finnish championships in these years, in the individual and team pursuit , in the 1000-meter time trial on the track , in road races and individual time trials on the road, as well as in the team time trial . He also set several Finnish records. He drove the International Peace Race four times with the following results: 1954 - he retired, 1955 - 12th, 1956 - 4th (which was the best place ever achieved by a Finn in this race), 1957 - 22nd.

Nyman started three times at the Olympic Games: 1952 in Helsinki in the road race (he had to retire here) and in the team time trial (retirement), in 1956 in Melbourne (11th) and in 1960 in Rome in the road race (17th) and in the team time trial (20th) , in the sprint and in the 1000 meter time trial. After the games in Rome, Paul Nyman ended his active career, but remained connected to cycling as an official of the Finnish Federation.
