Paul Amann Bridge
The Paul Amann Bridge (formerly Steg Astgasse ) is a Vienna river bridge for pedestrians and cyclists in Vienna . It crosses Vienna and the parallel U4 and connects Astgasse in Penzing ( Baumgarten district ) with Fleschgasse in Hietzing ( Unter-St.-Veit district ).
description
Under the internal project name Link 27 , architect Rudolf Brandstötter submitted a preliminary design for a Vienna River Bridge to the Concrete Student Trophy in 2007 and was awarded first prize.
The bridge was designed by the planning association ZT-GmbH DI. Josef Mayer and ZT Matthias Parzer as an "integral bridge", whose construction without joints or bearings should guarantee a minimum of maintenance costs. The asymmetrical framework was built from pre-stressed prefabricated and semi-prefabricated concrete parts, which also reduced the construction time.
The 40 m long and 5 m wide footbridge was realized at the same time as the Wiental-Rad-Highway , which runs under the footbridge, between April 2010 and the official opening on September 22, 2010 (by City Councilor Rudi Schicker and District Director Andrea Kalchbrenner).
Surname
The municipal council committee for culture and science decided in its meeting on June 7th, 2011 to name the bridge over the Wien river in extension of the Astgasse after the writer Paul Amann .
Wiental-Rad-Highway
In its public relations work, the Wiental-Rad-Highway is a pedestrian and cycle path that was built in the river bed of Vienna on the left, northern side, which only leads to the full width of water during floods. As an extension of the 2.4 km long path built a few years earlier between Auhof (western end at the Auhof retention basin ) and Vienna Hütteldorf train station , a continuation from Hütteldorf to the Kennedy Bridge (3.2 km) has now been built, mostly in 2010 . The Paul Amann Bridge, which also spans the path, is connected to this path with a ramp built for this purpose.
