The Kleine Marxerbrücke is a bridge over the Wien River and connects the two municipal districts of Inner City and Landstrasse .

history

When the Vienna River was regulated in the Vienna area at the end of the 19th century, numerous new bridges were built. The architects Friedrich Ohmann and Josef Hackhofer , who later also designed the Vienna river barriers in the city park, designed the new bridges between the city park and the confluence of the Vienna river into the Danube Canal . In this section from 1899 to 1900 the Stubenbrücke (near the city park), the Kleine Marxerbrücke, the Zollamtssteg (below that a tram , now an underground bridge) and the Radetzkybrücke were built.

Since then, the bridge has been renovated several times, for example after the Second World War and from 1978 to 1980. The last repair work was carried out in 2004, among other things, for reasons of monument protection, the brackets for district heating lines below the bridge were replaced with a more inconspicuous structure.

The bridge is after subsequent to the bridge in the 3rd district Marxergasse designated to them with the Stubenring leading Oskar-Kokoschka-Platz (1914-1980 Kopalplatz) joins in the 1st district. Their clear width is 26.5 meters with a width of 24 meters.
