Bishop Paul-Louis Carrière

Paul-Louis Carrière (born March 30, 1908 in Châlons-sur-Marne , † February 21, 2008 in Châlons-en-Champagne) was Roman Catholic Bishop of Laval in France .

Life

Carrière studied at the seminary in Châlons and at the Pontificium Seminarium Gallicum in Urbe ("Séminaire Pontifical Français de Rome") in Rome. He was ordained a priest on July 8, 1931 in the Cathedral of Châlons. From 1940 to 1945 he was a prisoner of war in Germany.

In 1968 he was by Paul VI. appointed titular bishop of Labicum and appointed coadjutor bishop of the diocese of Laval . He was ordained episcopate on January 11, 1969, by the Bishop of Châlons , René-Joseph Piérard ; Co- consecrators were his predecessor, Bishop Charles-Marie-Jacques Guilhem , and the Bishop of Saint-Dié , Jean-Félix-Albert-Marie Vilnet . In December 1969 he was appointed Bishop of Laval.

His resignation was granted in 1984 by John Paul II .

He was buried in the bishop's crypt in Laval Cathedral.
