Paul Spiegel Prize for moral courage

The Paul Spiegel Prize for Moral Courage is a prize sponsored by the Central Council of Jews in Germany , which has been awarded since 2009 and is endowed with 5000 euros.

The honorary award is named after Paul Spiegel , who was President of the Central Council from 2000 until his death in 2006. It is intended to appeal to a “strong civil society, without which a stable and lively democracy would be inconceivable” and to honor people “who are committed to civil society and show moral courage”.

  • 2018: Wilfried Manneke, Protestant pastor from Unterlüß , Lower Saxony.
