Paul Bach (painter)
Paul Richard Bach (born August 27, 1866 in Dresden , † March 7, 1919 in Charlottenburg near Berlin ) was a German painter and graphic artist from the Düsseldorf School .
Life
Paul Bach, son of Alfred Emil Julius Bach (1837–1922) and his wife Doris Elisabeth, née Jordan (1846–1893), attended the Düsseldorf Art Academy from 1884 to 1889 . There were Hugo Crola , Heinrich Lauenstein , Adolf Schill and especially Peter Janssen the Elder his teachers. In his painting class, Janssen rated him “very talented”. After Bach had further trained as a painter in Paris , he went to Munich , where he worked for ten years and met Lovis Corinth , whom he followed to Berlin. There he became a member of the Berlin Secession .
Bach created portraits , some landscapes and interiors, and many still lifes . His drawings with motifs from old cities and modern urban life received special recognition.
