Paul Bacher (born May 19, 1937 in Bozen ) is a former state commander of the South Tyrolean Shooting Association .

Life

Bacher's father Josef was born on December 20, 1900 in Feldthurns , was a master baker by trade, volunteered at the KuK Standschützen - Btl.Klausen 1st Company 2nd Platoon - as a 14-year-old boy and served there from May 19, 1915 to on November 3, 1918 - confirmed by the Tyrolean Provincial Archives . His mother Imelda Liedl was born on March 5, 1914 in Tramin . Paul Bacher attended the "Katakombenkindergarten" in Bozen-Dorf in 1941 (German kindergartens were banned in South Tyrol during the times of fascism ), moved with his family to Sarnthein for a short time in 1943 and attended elementary school there. Back in Bolzano, he attended the civic or commercial and preparatory school and from 1952 to 1954 the two-year commercial school in Feldkirch ( Vorarlberg ).

In 1955 he began his apprenticeship in his parents 'bakery / pastry shop and in 1958 became a board member of the South Tyrolean bakers' guild. After the journeyman's and master's examination, he took over his parents 'business in 1973 and was regional chairman of the South Tyrolean bakers' guild from 1985 to 1990.

Since his daughters were not interested in continuing the family business, he handed it over to the Franziskaner bakery in 1990.

From 1990 to 1993 he was the managing director of the South Tyrolean sports club in Bolzano , from 1995 to 2005 the Bolzano district council of Zentrum-Bozner Boden-Rentsch and from 1993 freelance inspector of the South Tyrol quality mark for bread and confectionery products.

Since 2000 he has been president of the “Kofler Foundation”, which ran a German girls' home and kindergarten in Bolzano.

As a sports enthusiast, Paul Bacher earned the German sports badge in gold 32 times and the Austrian sports badge in gold 13 times, played in an old man's soccer team, took part in several ski races in Northern Italy and Tyrol, and still enjoys swimming and mountain hiking today.

Paul Bacher's shooting career began in 1959 with the rifle company "Major Josef Eisenzüge" Gries , where he worked as a treasurer, lieutenant and from 1975 to 1993 as captain.

During this time, his company organized the large district rifle festival in Bolzano in 1976, with over 4000 participants, and in 1979 the 2nd state and alpine rifle festival, with over 6000 participants, in Bolzano.

On February 20, 1977, he and his company visited the shooting range of Andreas Hofer and was received by the highest representatives of the city of Mantua because for the first time after the end of the First World War a South Tyrolean rifle company appeared in full strength in Mantua.

On the occasion of the 1st Alpine Region Meeting in Mutters and the opening of the 175th anniversary in Innsbruck , his shooting company officially represented the South Tyrolean shooting association. Under his leadership, the company took part in the restoration of churches, chapels and crossroads, in various social missions, for example with donations of savings accounts to children in the children's village Brixen, gifts to the disabled workshops in Bolzano and the organization of the “Bolzano Seniors' Evening” for elderly citizens the city.

In 1992, Bacher managed to rent several rooms in Bozen / Gries, which have been used as a shooting club since then.

In May 1992 the federal government of the South Tyrolean Rifle Federation appointed Paul Bacher as its federal treasurer, and from 2001 to 2011 he held the post of regional commander of the South Tyrolean Rifle Federation. After 19 years in the South Tyrolean Schützenbund (nine years federal treasurer or federal major, ten years state commander), he handed over his office to Elmar Thaler, the previous federal manager, on April 30, 2011.

Paul Bacher is honorary commander of the rifle company "Mjr. Josef Eisenzüge" Gries, holder of the Merit Medal of the State of Tyrol and the Merit Cross of the State of Tyrol .
