Paul Blumenthal (composer)

Paul Blumenthal (born August 13, 1843 in Steinau an der Oder , Province of Silesia , † September 5, 1930 in Frankfurt (Oder) ) was a German organist , composer and royal music director in Frankfurt (Oder).

Life

Paul Blumenthal studied at the Academy of Arts and the Institute for Church Music in Berlin . In 1870 he became organist at the churches of St. Nikolai and St. Marien in Frankfurt (Oder). In 1876 Blumenthal was appointed Royal Music Director. He was also responsible for the inspection of new organs in the Frankfurt (Oder) administrative district, such as in Niederlausitz (Calau, Vetschau, Lübbenau) and Neumark . In 1909 he became a professor. In 1921 his activity as an organist ended.
