Paul Bojack

Paul Bojack (born August 25, 1913 in Neumittelwalde , Silesia , † October 16, 2008 in Freiberg ) was a German painter and graphic artist.

Career

Bojack grew up in Neumittelwalde. In 1927 his parents moved with him and his brother Bruno to Trebnitz , where he received training in the legal service at the local court . After the expulsion, Bojack found a new home in Freiberg and worked as a judicial officer at the Freiberg District Court .

In addition to his professional activity, Bojack devoted himself to art and in 1950 was one of the co-founders of the painting and drawing circle of the Bergakademie Freiberg , where he was supported by Volker Träger . In 1969, a work was included in the cross-sectional volume of 100 panels on the artistic folk creation in the GDR, Graphikspiegel ( Insel-Bücherei 1000/1).

Later he became a member of the artist group Die Kaue . He was still artistically active in old age and in 1991 was one of the initiators of the re-establishment of the Freiberg Art Association . Together with porters, Bojack designed a 40-meter ribbon with the European flags in Freiberg's Scheringerpark. For his life's work, Bojack was awarded the Freiberg Citizens' Prize in 1999. In 2006 he was honored with the Order of Merit of the Free State of Saxony .

Otto Paetz and Curt Querner were among his role models . Bojack created a variety of watercolors, graphics, and linocuts. The town of Freiberg, the Ore Mountains and the Mönchgut were among his most popular landscape motifs , and he also created numerous flower still lifes. He gained international fame through his forty years of artistic support for the annual motto in the GDR. The linocuts he designed found international distribution as postcards.
