Paul Brandenburg (painter)

Paul Brandenburg (born July 18, 1866 in Düsseldorf ; † July 4, 1925 there ) was a German landscape and genre painter from the Düsseldorf School .

Life

Brandenburg, son of the Düsseldorf landscape painter Wilhelm Brandenburg , studied painting at the Düsseldorf Art Academy like his father . There he was a student of Hugo Crola (1880–1882), Peter Janssen the Elder. Ä. (1883–1885, 1886–1890, 1893/1894), Adolf Schill (1885) and Wilhelm Sohn (1890–1893). He received special support from Janssen, who granted him two grants. While studying, Brandenburg was a member of the Tartarus student association . After graduating, he worked in Lauenburg, the Bergisches Land , the Eifel , Silesia and the Schaumburg district . From 1898 until his death, Brandenburg lived in Düsseldorf again and was a member of the artists' association Malkasten , the association of Düsseldorf artists and the association for the organization of art exhibitions .
