Paul Doelz

Paul Richard Dölz (* 19th September 1887 in Auma , Thuringia ; † 22. May 1975 in Tönning ) was a German politician of the SPD .

Life and work

After elementary school Dölz completed an apprenticeship as a carpenter in Weida (Thuringia) from 1902 to 1905 . He then graduated from the building trade school and worked throughout Germany and also in Switzerland. On April 5, 1933, he was arrested by the National Socialists and imprisoned in Rendsburg , but released in November of the same year due to incapacity for prison. He then went into business for himself with a tobacco shop in Flensburg . The shop was officially closed on April 15, 1943, as the authorities suspected it was an illegal meeting place for Social Democrats. After July 20, 1944 , he was arrested again and imprisoned in Neuengamme concentration camp .

Political party

Dölz joined the SPD as an apprentice. From 1920 to 1933 he was full-time party secretary for the northern districts in Schleswig-Holstein and the city of Flensburg.

MP

From 1929 to 1933 Dölz was district deputy. From November 1946 on he was a member of the district committee in the Eiderstedt district .

Dölz was a member of the Schleswig-Holstein Landtag from 1946 to 1950 and from May 5, 1953, when he replaced his party friend Max Kukil , until 1954 . He represented the constituency of Eiderstedt in parliament. In the first appointed state parliament (until November 11, 1946) he was deputy chairman of the interior committee and the committee for refugee affairs. From December 7, 1953 to 1954 he was deputy secretary of the state parliament.

The state parliament elected Dölz as a member of the 1st Federal Assembly , which on September 12, 1949 elected Theodor Heuss as Federal President .

Public offices

After 1945 Dölz became 1st city councilor in Tönning and deputy district administrator in the Eiderstedt district. From November 8, 1947 to September 5, 1950 he was parliamentary representative of the Interior Minister of Schleswig-Holstein.

Honors

Dölz was awarded the Cross of Merit 1st Class of the Federal Cross of Merit. A street in Tönning was named after him.
