Paul Deutsch (journalist)

Paul Deutsch (born March 16, 1873 in Vienna ; † July 4, 1958 ) was an Austrian journalist .

Paul Deutsch attended the Wasagasse grammar school and was trained in shorthand by Karl Weizmann . After graduating from high school, he studied law at the University of Vienna . At the same time, he worked as a parliamentary stenographer for the Reichsrat from 1892 to 1897 . From 1898 to 1919 he was an employee of the " New Free Press ". Then he worked as a freelance writer until he founded a business publishing house in 1922. From 1927 to 1934 he was editor-in-chief of the “ Wiener Allgemeine Zeitung ”. After the "Anschluss of Austria" in 1938, he was banned from any journalistic activity. From the founding of the newspaper “ Neues Österreich ” in 1945, he was a representative of the Social Democrats on its editorial team. He was buried in a grave of honor in the Vienna Central Cemetery.
