Paul Fahlisch

Immanuel Friedrich Paul Fahlisch (born May 27, 1844 in Ragow , Calau district ; † May 13, 1930 in Lübbenau ) was a German teacher and regional historian.

Live and act

Paul Fahlisch was born the son of a teacher. After attending the village school and the secondary school in Lübben , he completed the teachers' seminar in Neuzelle from 1863 to 1866 . From 1866 to 1870 he was an assistant teacher at the Lübbenau city school, then a teacher at the secondary school in Lübbenau (at the end of the pot market), where he worked until 1910.

In 1882 he had the idea to show holidaymakers the Spreewald in a boat . In 1886 he was one of the founders of the tourist association and in 1890 of the Spreewald Museum , which he later also ran. He also took part actively in club life, he was a member of the choral society "Liederkranz", the men's gymnastics club and the cultural club "Harmonie".

In 1928 he became an honorary member of the Niederlausitz Society for Anthropology and Antiquity . 14 days after his death, on his 86th birthday, he was made an honorary citizen of Lübbenau, where a street also bears his name. In 1995 the Paul-Fahlisch-Gymnasium was named after him. Every two years the Spreewald Tourist Association awards the Paul Fahlisch Prize, endowed with 1,500 euros, for innovative services and marketing of tourism in the Spreewald.

Fahlisch wrote for the Vossische Zeitung , the Daily Rundschau , the Frankfurter Oderzeitung , the Cottbuser Anzeiger and the Lausitzer Landeszeitung . He also published the following books:
