Paul G. Ulrich

Paul G. Ulrich (* 1959 in Krefeld ) is a German jazz musician ( double bass ).

Live and act

Ulrich graduated from high school at Moltkeplatz ; he first received piano lessons at the local music school before switching to bass. As a teenager he worked in the Young Chamber Orchestra in Krefeld under the direction of Ralph Schürmanns. At the age of 16 he began playing jazz as a bass player in his brother's combo. After graduating from high school, he studied jazz with Jiggs Whigham at the Cologne University of Music and Dance .

He soon appeared with Dirko Juchem and Rolf Marx ; He also accompanied musicians such as Benny Bailey , Bill Ramsey and Hugo Strasser . Since the late 1980s he has been part of the Boogie Woogie Company , with which he recorded three albums. In 1996 he started working in Paul Kuhn's trio , with whom he released several albums. He was also part of the large-format production Paul Kuhn and The Best (2006). He also played with Les Searle , in the octet by Frank Wunsch , with Mr. Rössler and his Tiffany Ensemble and in the trio by Jörg Hegemann ; he can also be heard on CDs by Ilona Haberkamp , Richard Bargel and Tobias Sudhoff .
