Tobias Sudhoff (born March 11, 1972 in Haselünne ) is a German jazz musician ( piano and vibraphone ), author , cook and cabaret artist from Greven near Münster , Westphalia.

Life

Tobias Sudhoff studied medicine, philosophy and Dutch studies in Münster.

music

Since 1993 he has played as a pianist and singer in regular formations a. a. with Knut Kiesewetter , Herb Geller and Willy Ketzer . He also appeared as a guest musician at the side of jazz musicians such as Lee Konitz , Bill Ramsey and Peter Fessler , but also pop musicians such as Ron Williams , Max Mutzke , Sydney Youngblood and others. In 2016, the book "Ein Herd und ein Seele" followed by Tecklenborg Verlag, for which he traveled across Europe with the photographer Hermann Willers to visit food producers, cooks and farmers who deliver high quality. For many years now, Sudhoff has been presenting his kitchen philosophy, for which he uses the term food turnaround, at public cooking and grill shows with befriended celebrity chefs such as Stephan Hentschel and Harald Rüssel . He speaks out in public clearly against factory farming, tricks of the food industry and for the responsibility of the consumer. He also wrote a regular column for two years in the magazine “Stadtgeflüster”, then for the national travel & pleasure magazine “Savoir Vivre” and regularly writes articles on nutrition for German and Dutch magazines. In 2014 he received several teaching positions in the subject of nutritional science at the Münster University of Applied Sciences and is a member of the founding team of the Münster Food Lab located there . Since the end of 2017 it has been at the center of a sensational cooperation between the Münster University of Applied Sciences and the star restaurant "Westfälische Stube" in the Parkhotel Surenburg. In January he took over the role of chef there. The aim of this cooperation is the connection of star gastronomy and sustainability, ecology and regionality and several students are involved in the project. The recipes were developed at the foodlab muenster. After the Hotel Surenburg had to file for bankruptcy, this idea of ​​sustainable top gastronomy was reopened as a pop-up in the new location "Escape" under the name "Neue Westfälische Stube" in June 2019.
