Tim Raue (born March 31, 1974 in Berlin ) is a German chef .

biography

Raue grew up in simple circumstances in Kreuzberg's Wrangelkiez and, according to his own admission, was a member of the youth gang 36 Boys in his youth . In an interview he once said: “The first thing I learned as a teenager was to use status symbols to define my social rank. And the ones we didn't have, we got illegally. "

In the second year of his apprenticeship in the Chalet Suisse restaurant in Grunewald , he met his former wife Marie-Anne. This was followed by positions on the first floor and, at the age of just 23, as head chef in the now no longer existing Rosenbaum on Oderberger Strasse and then also as head chef in the Kaiserstuben . In 1998 he was elected climber of the year ( Der Feinschmecker ).

In 2002 he switched to restaurant 44 in Berlin's Swissôtel as head chef , with his wife as restaurant manager. 2007, he was named Gault Millau for Chef of the Year . His cuisine at 44 was awarded a Michelin star and 18 Gault-Millau points. In 2008 he published a cookbook with the title Aromen (r) evolution . Also in 2008 he switched to the Adlon Collection , which is part of the Fundus Group and operated five restaurants in the Hotel Adlon, as culinary director . There he opened the restaurants Ma Tim Raue ( Chinese- inspired cuisine), Uma ( Japanese- inspired) and the Shochu Bar . After a few months, Ma Tim Raue was awarded a Michelin star. The Gault Millau awarded the Ma Tim Raue with 18 points and the Uma with 17 points. As the restaurants were in deficit , Ma Tim Raue was closed in July 2010 . The Uma was continued under the management of Stephan Zuber, who was the chef there since September 2009, and is also closed.

In September 2010, Raue opened the Tim Raue restaurant in Berlin-Kreuzberg . In the same year he sat on the jury of the television show Germany's master chef . Since December 2011 he has been promoting a weight loss company. In 2012 the Tim Raue restaurant was awarded two stars by the Michelin Guide. At the end of 2018, Gault-Millau awarded his restaurant 19.5 points.

In May 2013, Raue, who also owns the tim raue studio and runs Sra Bua by Tim Raue , opened La Soupe Populaire as the third restaurant in Berlin. It is located in the former Bötzow brewery on Prenzlauer Allee . The Soupe Populaire was awarded a Bib Gourmand by the Michelin Guide and 13 points by Gault Millau.

In April 2014, Raues Restaurant Tim Raue made it into the British Best Restaurants list at number 78; In 2016 he was ranked 34th. Since 2015 he has been seen regularly in the VOX cooking show Kitchen Impossible and took part in the RTL program Wer wird Millionär? For Tim Mälzer . part. In the third season of the Netflix series Chef's Table , an episode deals with Tim Raue and his development as a chef.

In 2019, he replaced Roland Trettl as coach in the seventh season of the cooking talent show The Taste . Since November 15, 2019 he has been on the cooking show Ready to beef! Moderated by Tim Mälzer ! responsible as a permanent juror.
