Paul Goacher

Paul "Potsy" Goacher (born April 8, 1917 in Anderson , Indiana ; † February 10, 1986 there ) was an American racing driver .

Career

Goacher grew up with 11 siblings. He worked as a toolmaker at Delco and drove midget and sprint car races near his home as a hobby , some of which he won. He also played the saxophone and clarinet in a band in his hometown.

In 1952 and 1953 he tried unsuccessfully to qualify for the Indianapolis 500 miles. In 1954 he had a serious accident while training. His only appearance in a race in the AAA National Series was in 1953 on the Milwaukee Mile , when he replaced Andy Linden and brought his Pankratz - Offenhauser across the finish line in eighth place.

After his resignation, he ran a Volkswagen workshop in Anderson.
