Paul Joachimsen

Paul Fritz Joachimsen (born March 12, 1867 in Danzig as Paul Fritz Joachimsohn , † January 25, 1930 in Munich ) was a German historian .

Life

Paul Joachimsen was a Jew who converted to Protestantism and changed his name in the process to distance himself from his Jewish origins. He was first a high school teacher in Augsburg and from 1903 to 1925 at the Wilhelmsgymnasium in Munich . He completed his habilitation in 1908. In 1916 he received an honorary professor with a teaching position for history didactics in Munich. It was not until 1925 that he was able to fully devote himself to academic teaching as an associate professor . His main work is the representation The humanistic historiography in Germany (1895).
