Paul Kalmus

Heinrich Paul Johannes Otto Kalmus (born June 18, 1864 in Treptow an der Rega , West Pomerania ; † March 13, 1940 in Stettin ) was a Protestant theologian and from 1921 to 1933 general superintendent for the eastern district of the church province of Pomerania of the Protestant Church of the Old Prussian Union .

Paul Kalmus was born as the son of the high school teacher Heinrich Otto Kalmus and his wife Amalie von Haza-Radlitz. After attending school in his hometown, he studied theology at the universities of Berlin and Greifswald . In 1882 he joined the Berlin and later also the Greifswald Wingolf.

On 10 July 1889 he was named pastor in Pinnow ( Kirchenkreis Wolgast ) ordained . There he officiated until he was appointed pastor in Papendorf near Strasburg (Prenzlau church district) in 1891 .

In 1906 he received a call to Dramburg (now in Polish: Drawsko Pomorskie), where he took over the post of pastor and superintendent of the Dramburg parish .

During the First World War Kalmus was the deputy military pastor in Szczecin .

In 1917 he was appointed consistorial councilor of the consistory of the ecclesiastical province of Saxony in Magdeburg .

After the church province of Pomerania was divided into two districts in 1921, D. Paul Kalmus was appointed general superintendent for the eastern district of Pomerania. He held this office until his retirement on October 1, 1933.

His successor - after the "intermediate episode " of the German Christian Bishop Karl Thom - was Heinrich Ernst Boeters in 1936 .
